It has been a long wait for the Moto G4’s lowest variant, the G4 Play to hit the Indian shores. The Moto G4 Play will go up on sale exclusively on Amazon from today, that is Tuesday September 6, from 10 am.

The Moto G4 Play is the lowest variant of the 4th generation Moto G series. Its other, more powerful siblings, the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus are already available in India at Rs 12,499 and Rs 14,999 respectively.

The phone has been priced at Rs. 8,999, closer to the Moto E despite having 4G LTE connectivity.

Spec wise, the Moto G4 Play sports a 5-inch 720p HD IPS display and comes powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, along with 2GB of RAM and Adreno 306 GPU. There is 16GB of internal storage expandable up to 128GB through a microSD card. It runs stock Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with a few tweaks by Moto on top.

There is an 8-megapixel rear shooter with f/2.2 aperture, auto focus and LED flash. The camera also has features like Geo-tagging, face detection, panorama and HDR. On the front there is a 5-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture lens.

A 2800mAh battery powers the entire thing and Moto claims it can give a full-day performance on a single charge. It also supports quick charging with the 10W rapid charger sold separately.

Lenovo has also tipped the Moto E3 to launch here in India on September 19, along with plans of bringing the modular Moto Z and Moto Z Force in the country.
