Samsung unveils its new W2017 Android flip phone with full HD dual display

There always was a market for flip phones, even when smart phones were not there and till date you have companies that are still making flip phones. Although the flip smart phone category is not densely populated, Samsung is one such company that has launched its new high end W2017, which is an upgrade to the W2016 that was announced in China last year.

Being a dual SIM phone, the handset features a dual 4.2 inch Super AMOLED display with full HD resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and also has an “always-on” display. Powering the handset is the Quad-core Snapdragon 820 SoC of which two cores clock at 2.1 GHz and other two cores clock at 1.6GHz, paired with 4GB RAM.

Talking of the design prospects, the handset weighs 208 grams and measures 127.8×61.4×15.8mm making it light to hold and carry and also supports wireless charging. It also facilitates interesting features like heart rate sensor, barometer, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, accelerometer and magnetometer.

For clicking images and video recording, the phone backs a 12MP rear camera with f/1.7 aperture along with flash. It also supports 4k video recording, while on the front is the 5MP sensor that has f/1.9 aperture. For storing your data, the handset offers 64GB inbuilt storage that can be expanded via microSD.

Some other connectivity options include Bluetooth v4.1, Micro-USB port which also works as a headphone jack and Wi-Fi 802.11ac too. To offers a decent usability, the handset houses a 2300mAh battery that has a standby time of almost 64 hours.

There are no conformations on the pricing of the phone, but reports suggest that it just might come with a price tag of CNY 20,000 (Rs 1.97 lakhs approx.), but it’s very unlikely to launch outside China.
